Forbidden

With the lights out,

we’re skin-tight in the night air,

my mouth clenched close to your taut apple skin

like the garden temptation I never faced.

O endless fruits;

the lights are out

in Bethlehem tonight

and I am cradled

in the fullness of your shiny flesh.
